Cannot contact controller thru FSInn Chat

To L.D. James: Thanks for your response to my inquiry on the Vatsim forum. I have tried repeatedly and carefully to transmit through the FSInn Chat window with no success. I have been very careful to transmit on the correct channel since I can see who is online via the ATC window. I receive both text and voice messages (not to me) and am using text to try and reach the controller. Also, I get no response when sending in a FP. I have been patient and waited often over 1/2 hour for a response. I would be grateful for any additional help or suggestions from anyone.

Will KaschSome people click on “Save” when they think they are sending the Flight Plan. Will you verify that you’re clicking on “Send to Tower” when you are sending it?

I THINK I HAVE SOLVED MY PROBLEM CONCERNING TRANSMITTING TO THE CONTROLLER!!!!! When following the instructions in the Manual for FSInn, one of the first boxes states that you can sign on as an observer or stealth. I checked the observer box. I guess that you cannot transmit from the observer status. I confused this with the PILOT/OBSERVER rating. I unchecked the observer box and tried a radio check with the tower SUCCESS!! I got a reply in text from the tower. One other question re: communication. I receive both voice and text, but can only transmit in text. Will the controller always answer in text or will he answer in voice? THANKS AGAIN --- WILL

Glad you got it resolved. I’ll have to remember these symptoms for anyone else describing something similar. If you had said that you couldn’t see your status using Servinfo I would have mentioned to check the FAQ item referring to that option.

THANKS AGAIN --- WILLThe controllers will normally follow your communications method unless you specify different. Some controllers might ask you if you have voice as it’s the preferred communications mode.
