how to contact controllers atc vatsim

starting up vatsim there were no controllers in eham to day.
lateron it turns out there were some controllers in scottland who let me know i was not permitted to start
flying.
My question is where can I see more then only with the atc button that controllers somewhere else are active?
I am a newbie so sorry for the beginners question.

another question is to more experienced pilots, is an answer by the controllers also to see as text?

You can use a tool such as Servinfo (can be found in the download section).

Also, take a look at the first flight lesson in the required reading section of VATSIM’s PRC (www.vatsim.net/prc (http://www.vatsim.net/prc)). Go though the steps as good as you can and give me a description of any components you have problems with.
