I am trying to install FSCopilot v1.7B2.4 as a prelude to installing FSInn and I get teh following error message :

Error opening file for writing: F:\Microsoft Flight Simulator \Modules\FSCopilot.dll

I run Windows 7 64, UAC is disabled. I have tried "run as administrator" as well as running it normally. All my flight sim programs are installed on a single drive and the path for FSX is F:\Microsoft Flight Simulator X. I have run the Registry Path Tool to ensure that the registry is pointing to the correct folder for FSX.

The install program creates a folder called "F:\Microsoft Flight Simulator ", which has nothing in it. It also created the FSDT directory which is populated and everything in there seems to work except the pdf doc files.

It seems it is trying to install into an icorrect location for FSX and that is why the error is being produced.

Any help or advice would be greatfuly recieved. If you need more info on my system and software let me know.

Thanks
Alex

OK I have resolved the issue with some help form a friend. This post over on the VATSIM forums pointed the way to correcting the issue:- http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?t=29010

Seems that the utility I used to fix the registry didn't fix it as such for FSCopilot. however when I downloaded and use the utility from the Apollo III site it all worked correctly.

It was probably the only thing I didn't search on (FSCopilot.dll).

Cheers,
Alex

Hi, Alex. Glad you found your resolution.

I would have suggested the FSInn/VATSIM FAQ (question #17, "Why is FSCopilot Failing to Install [Error writing file]?) which is located on the front page of http://flightsim.apollo3.com .

Thanks for your update.

Hello there!

Today I was trying to install FSInn and FSCopilot as a fresh install on my own PC, and I found something weird,

I remember installing the package before on another PC without problems, but this time the software is trying to install on a different directory and that obviuosly

gives an error message.

Normally the installation directory for a FS9 simulator is: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9

For a FSX instalacion is: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X

BUT the installation programa is trying to install in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator

and that directory obviously does not existe and gives me an error not being able to install the file in /modules!!!

Thanks for the expression of appreciation. Glad the searchable database is showing merit.
