Hi everyone....by way of introduction, I have been simming since the mid 1980s and consider myself fairly computer literate. That may be my problem in the sense that...a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Now, down to basics....
I have read all the faqs and manuals and have followed instructions.

Here's the problem. Once linked to Vatsim, when I try to make voice communication with ATC, my Teamspeak icon appears in the task bar and the program comes up, with the stock announcement "Error!". I am connected to Vatsim and can tune in a controller, but all I have is chat access. That's not how I prefer to use the sim.

I have been able to use ATC with no problems in the past, but circumstances required a backup reinstallation of FSX. In those past successful uses, the Teamspeak icon did not appear, which I believe is the correct result.
I am using XP Home as my OS and have more than enough computer resources to run everything I wish too run. Any assistance is very much appreciated. Thanks.

Can you tell us the results you get from the steps of FAQ question #2 ("I configured my PTT, why can't the controllers hear me [or vice-versa]?")?

btw, i have a couple of other ideas I also want to pursue, involving complete deletion and re-installation of both the FSFDT and TS...
more later...

Hi Sherm! .... long time since IUP mailist ....! Back to the topic.
It looks like you're trying to use TS to talk to VATSIM ATCs.
You don't need TS.
FSINN (and Euroscope) have a built-in voice program (let's say a secured/improved version of RogerWilco) that is to be used on VATSIM network.
You'll need TS only to communicate on other FSD networks, like apollo3, or to connect to your Virtual Airline server (if any!).

Cheers, amen

Hi Gian...
I know that FSINN and CoPilot technically do not require the operator to boot TS...part of my problem is that it boots automatically and shows up in my task bar when I dial into ATC. I get the standard TS audible "error" message.
btw, in configuring FCP/FSINN, there is a box that does an auto search for TS. Just on a hunch, I completely deleted TS, even tho I do use it for my VA, DC3airways. I still was not able to hear or communicate with ATC, except for chat mode, which I choose not to use...
Still at square 1 on this, and as I posted earlier, I'll dig into more when I get home from work, later today.

From your description is sounds like there's something corrupted about your installation. It appears that somehow you've ticked the TS mode in the VATSIM network configuration ( on the screen where you put your VATSIM ID and Password). All those options should be grayed out and VVL should be ticked.

Try ticking the VVL option. If that fails you might have to uninstall FSInn/FSCopilot and reinstall it.

Interesting points raised LJ. I'll factor it in and follow your ideas....and get back later after I'm back at my home computer...I don't fly Vatsim all that much, but I miss the option of doing so, with live ATC, when I want it. More later...

A big thank you to LJ and Gian for their responses. LJ, you nailed it. I had TS ticked instead of VVL...as the subject says, problem is solved...Thanks for taking the time and interest to help me out.
