View Full Version : Slow Multiplayer Aircraft Mapping

I fly with a virtual helicopter VA. Most members fly with addon helicopters. When we are flying away from conjested areas (NY and LA) members aircraft appear immediately. However, when we are near conjested areas their aircraft either shows up after 10-15 minutes or not at all. I can see their tail numbers in the air where their aircraft should be. Interesting, if I remap their aircraft to a default FSX aircraft it will appear immediately. Remap back to the actual addon aircraft and it will take 5-10 mins or not appear at all.
I have used the FSInn suggested setting re uncheck Resolve to Exact... and also Use Lo Res, and reduced the multiplayer radius and no of aircraft but no difference. This doesn't happen to members using FS2004, just FSX.
Any ideas?

Are the aircraft you're having problems with payware aircraft?

They are both payware and freeware. I have tried to map other pilots to every helicopter I have and the default FSX all map instantly but the non-default have the delay or don't show at all. I have Hovercontrol models, Nemeth Design, etc, all the non-default have the delay problem.

Use the option in the FSInn/VATSIM FAQ (from the front page of http://flightsim.apollo3.com) to disable the aircraft you're having problems with. Do this especially for the payware aircraft.
You'll find this option under the performance question (getting better FPS).

Are you saying that Vatsim cannot handle the non-default helicopters?
Many of my non-default helicopters don't appear to have textures with file sizes any greater than the FSX default ones. I am trying to determine what is actually different about the FSX helicopters so that I can possibly get the non-default ones to respond in the same fashion.

If you're having problems with them it might have something to do with the details that are presented and the system is having trouble keeping up with.
