The latest FSInn1.3 beta is stable and not only fixes problems experienced in the release version 1.2, but also have full support for Windows Vista and FSX.
You can find it in the download section. Be sure to read the author's notes which includes download procedures.
Setup and running FSInn continues to be a breeze. Just follow these quick steps:
1) Run the install of FSCopilot 1.7 and FSInn 1.3 (be sure to do a clean uninstall when changing versions). During the install, press enter at all the prompts, and keep all the defaults.
1a) Vista Specific
Specifically for Vista:
I right clicked on three programs and set the compatible mode to Run as Administrator (by putting a check mark in the "Run as Administrator" option). I ran the three programs once and exited out of them. The three programs are:
C:\Program Files\FSFDT\Control Panel\FSFDTCP.exe
C:\Program Files\FSFDT\Control Panel\FSFDTCPLite.exe
C:\Program Files\FSFDT\FSInn UI\FSInnUI.exe
When running the FSInnUI.exe (once), click on Chat and then exit out of it.
You should run flight sessions with UAC turned off.
2) Start your version of Flight Simulator (from version 2002 to version Flight Simulator X). From the Addons or Copilot menu, Click on Inn Control Panel -> Set -> General -> Basic (Fll in your Call Sign, First Name, Last Name and Homebase Airport. Then Click on Network VATSIM (or Apollo) (type in your UserID and Password).
3) Click on the VATSIM (or Apollo button), and you’ll be immediately simming on the network.
4) for PTT (Push to talk) While running FSX, bring up the FSFDT Control Panel. It’s the icon in the tasktray that looks like a traffic light sign.
Click on Voice -> VATSIM (Choose your sound devices) -> Click on Volumes -> (Insure Sliders are to the right for more volume) Click on Key mappings -> (Choose your PTT for keyboard [and or joystick button])
With this I was fully up and running in minutes with voice configured. On the next session was a one click on the VATSIM button and I was connected and flying online.
There are occasions where third firewalls might block connection. Check your Firewall/Antivirus program and insure that the following three modules have access:
FSFDTCP.exe
FSInnUI.exe
FWINN.exe
Enjoy.
