Howdy y'all.

From what I've been reading on several forums (VATSIM and MCDU for the most part) a lot of people have been having problems getting the latest versions of FSCopilot and FSInn to work with FSX. Several people have read the "Remove the FSCopilot.dll file from the Modules folder" and tried it, but this only allows FSX to run - FSCopilot/FSInn do NOT work. If it does - you're very lucky.

Now the obvious thing to do is to re-install FSX: This will NOT solve your problem. The problem that causes FSX not to run is FSCopilot.dll - a DLL which will NOT be fixed by re-install FSX. It is a 3rd party file. Until MCDU fix it, this will be a recurring problem. However, there does seem to be a workaround.

First things first: COMPLETELY un-install all traces of MCDU products. Doesn't matter what it is, where it is or what it does - delete it. This will ensure that there's no "corruption" accross versions, and you will have a completely up-to-date install.

The next step is to install FSCopilot, followed by FSInn. There's no "tactical" way to install these - the programs dictate that FSCopilot is install before FSInn. Now - the first thing to do after this is to try and run FSX as normal. It might work, it might not. If it works - lucky you.

If it doesn't work, the next step is to move the FSCopilot.dll file to a different location. It is important that you do NOT delete this file - you WILL need it later. For now, navigate to the Modules folder (Default: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X\Modules) and CUT the dll. Move up one level, create a new folder, call it what you like, and PASTE the dll into there (Shortcuts: CTRL+X and CTRL+V.)

Now you get to run FSX again. It should work - normal, crisp flying experience. Load up the default flight, cruise for a few seconds, land if you want, not fussed - just get in a cockpit. Soon as you're done, close FSX again. You should've noticed no changes in FSX since you installed the MCDU products. If you did - you've got something strange going on.

Now for the big one. Go back to the folder that you created, and cut and paste the FSCopilot.dll back into the Modules folder. No alterations, no other files, no special file names, no tools to run, nothing. Just put it back in there, and close the file explorer. Run FSX again and you SHOULD see nothing new. Load up a flight - doesnt matter where or when or what in, just get in a cockpit. When you're on the ground, click on "Addons" on the top menu bar. Didn't see it before? Should be there now. Under there, you need to look for "FSCopilot" under there, and from there, "Inn Control Panel." This will be your gateway to flying on VATSIM or wherever else.

I wish you all the very best of luck, and if you've any problems, feel free to contact me.

Best Regards,
