Hey guys what's up, I am running FSX in a new PC with Vista Ultimate in 64 bit, I have not been able to have FSInn 1.3 with Copilot 1.7 run properly in this PC although I have followed the instructions to the letter, when I connect to Gamespy, it connects immediately
no problems whatsoever, when I try to connect to Vatsim I can not get FSInn connected, not only that but I don't get the FSInn in the addon at the top of the window, I don't even see an addon selection, I have the windows Firewall enabled for the Fsinn programs, and I don't have an antivirus software yet I am just using the AOL antivirus, my PC goes through a router but I don't have the router firewall enabled, and also I can connect with other programs with no problem, FSInn doesn't seem to see the internet access, My settings are the same than a friend of mine, he can connect, but I can't, my system specs are
ECS PN2-SLI2 motherboard
Q6700 quad processor
4Gb of RAM
3 750GB HDD raid 5
EVGA GTX 8800E at 769Mhz video card
Ultra power supply 1000Watt
Vista Ultimate running at 64 Bits

Hi, Jorge.

First try to find a way to give the three modules mentioned in the VATSIM Connection steps ( http://flightsim.apollo3.com/docs/fsinn/connectiontovatsim.htm ). If you can’t find a way uninstall the AOL antivirus program while we debug your problem.

Next Install the Microsoft Loopback adapter:

(Loopback adapter installation steps for Windows Vista)

Control Panel -> [Select] Classic View -> [Click] Add Hardware -> [Follow any prompts to confirm] -> [On the Add Hardware Window tick] Install the hardware that I manually select from a list -> [Click] Next -> [Select] Network adapters -> Next -> Microsoft -> Microsoft Loopback Adapter -> Next -> Next -> Finish ->

(Loopback adapter configuration)

[From the Contol Panel Double Click] Network and Sharing Center -> [Click] Manage network connections -> [Right Click] Microsoft Loopback Adapter -> Properties -> [Select] TCP/IPv4 -> Properties -> [Tick] Use the forllowing IP address -> [Enter for IP Address 172.22.1.1, for Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0] -> OK -> Close

Now run Flight Simulator and tell me if you get your addon’s menu.

Hi, Jorge.

Did AOL show you how to disable their Firewall/Antivirus? Windows Firewall will serve sufficient during the time of your configurations and test.

By the way, go to your Windows directory and run the Windows search utility and tell me how many times it finds "simconnect.dll".

Having Problems Connecting while using FSX or FS9, then try these simple steps to relieve your mind totally.

Many people know including LJames that I have been struggling with connecting to VATSIM and IVAO successfully seeing more than 1 person on at any given time on either servers.

If you use SB3, or FSINN, there are simple ways to first avoid the confusion and many months of not being albe to enjoy flying!

Fix your system as Larry James has described in his posts. Then do this if you have MCAFEE or Norton Antivirus or any of their products installed in your system.

You may think, Ok I got a new system, firewall and ports all open for FS and connections and I dont need to do this. TRUST ME YOU DO!

Easy Steps

1. Go to symantec.com and search for the Norton Removal Tool. This will remove all of your antivirus / Internet Security software. This is must to do. If your system has Vista on it you already have a good firewall with Windows Defender and Windows Firewall. You don't want to overkill do you? Trust me I did and I couldnt connect since July of 07 until December 07.

2. Restart your computer

3. Make sure right click on the FS2004 icon, and click on the compatibility tab. Then select the option for running FS using Windows XP Compability Mode - Service Pack 2, and then under the settings click the "Disable Visual Themes", and "Disable Desktop Composition".

4. The start flightsimulator.

5. This has solved 2 problems. Your computer can now connect using SB3 or FSINN. You might have to reinstall SB3 or FSINN but shouldn't have to under most cases. And the other thing solved was that you can now load up in Windows Mode, Not Full Screen and use your S key to go to outside views without FS blacking out or having troubles.

6. Enjoy Flightsim and flying with your friends!

Remember YOU DO NOT NEED NORTON OR MCAFEE... THEY WILL ONLY HURT YOU. Some people can get it to work most cannot. I didn't listen for several months, so dont worry you can connect if you disconnect and use removal tools sometimes!
