Hi, Jymp. Check the third troubleshooting item in the quick install steps:

Thanks Larry, going to try that right now, will let you know if it works.
Well reinstalled FSCopilot & FSInn, things are worse than before, I now get these errors "FSCopilot : Failed to create FSCopilotFSInn.Chat (CWNDFS98MAIN=ac07664), "Run time error 372" and last but not least "Microsoft Flight Simulator has stopped working", I followed all your instructions James - Toolkit etc., but this is what I end up with, Benjiman should really try to simplify this program, I think it may try to do too much.
Any help would be appreciated

Jymp. Benjamin actually put a lot of time and the team, plus much of the VATSIM membership has done a lot of testing and made things very simple. I understand you might feel it’s complicated because you’re having problems. Whatever problems you’re having, I’m sure can easily be resolved just by us looking to see what you’re doing different that then hundreds of users who fly everyday on VATSIM using it.
If you care to check the steps, I’d be glad to work with you to help identify the problem. I have installed FSInn on tens of computers following the steps I gave you, and never had a problem. I’ve also helped many tens of people who were having problems, and it always turns out to be something simple.
The program absolutely doesn’t try to do too much. It just uses the resources that the users make available to it. It can’t magically fix or change problems that the user has with their initial OS or FSX installation. This is something I often do for users.
As far as saying its worst, by following the instructions, I don’t know what other instructions you were initially using. But the instructions I gave you, simply suggestions clicking on the applications, using all the defaults without making any changes, and of course, running fsx.exe in administration mode if running Vista. This is necessary for many programs running under Vista.
There’s no reference to “Toolkit” to the error messages you describe. I don’t know what the etc is referring to. But if you did the procedures in the link and looked at the troubleshooting steps that refer to any problem, I can’t imagine you actually having a problem.
However, if you do have a problem and specify it and specify that you did the steps in the link I gave you that addresses the problem, that might provide that somehow you have discovered something new that needs special addressing, of which I’d be glad to do.
I gave you the link, because following the steps (and using the troubleshooting section for any issues) has always worked for me.
Again, you made references to issues, but didn’t make a reference to having addressed them according to the link. I can only infer that, that is where you problem lies.

What so frustrating is I did each and every step very carefully 5 times, for some reason for me that didn't stop the error messages, now if you'd like to send me thru email each step perhaps in more detail I would try again, but I don't see how the fixes could be anymore detailed than they are already, if I would have had any third party software installed I could understand, but this is plain FSX SP1 Acceleration, and I don't have FS9 & SB3 installed, after thinking about it awhile I have a feeling it has something to do with Vista's security settings, even though we covered all the administrator stuff.

It’s not clear to me what you’re doing, and what problems you’re having. Again, you mentioned running tools, but I don’t know which tools you decided to run. I had given you a one page link that has a troubleshooting section and also have a FSInn/VATSIM FAQ link. I asked you to closely follow the install steps and use those two pages for troubleshooting.
If you have a problem, make a reference using the wordings of the pages I gave you for how you address the issue and we take it from there. I can’t imagine it taking a long time. If you have a problem or any errors your followup post should be clear and precise of what the error was and what you did to address the errors or issues (using the wording included in the two pages I gave you).
If the two pages I gave you don’t have any wordings that addresses your issue, don’t do anything but report the problem you have.
I’m trying to make it as simple on your part as possible. The results on my part will be clear of what to do next if there is a problem.

Ok, here ya go...."FSCopilot Failed to create FSCopilotFSInn.chat (CWNDFS98MAIN=ac07664)"
"Componet VATSIMVL.ocx or one of its dependencies not correctly registered, a file is missing or invalid"
"Run Time Error 372"
"Microsoft Flight Simulator has stopped working"
These are the four errors I can't get rid of. Thanks James

You're welcome.
Now, as I mentioned, please list any (if any) of what you did to using the two pages I gave you (the Setup Steps/Troubleshooting and/or the FSInn/VATSIM FAQ) to address the issue(s)?
This is also important.

I just did the steps as written 5 times
I installed FSInn 1.3 & 1.7 co-pilot in FSX SP2 Accel., all works fine until I shut down FSX, then I get a box that says FSX did not shut down, when I investigate further it says something to do with Windows DEP, when I uninstall FSInn & Co-Pilot the problem goes away. I have no earthly idea how to fix this, I've tried everything, so I just uninstalled FSInn and all is well.

You said:I just did the steps as written 5 times
Please be advised the number of times doesn’t matter. All that’s needed is once.
Please notice what I said. I’m highlighting it in green. This is important.

In other words, list the issues and the troubleshooting steps you took to address them and along with the results after the troubleshooting steps.

I did the troubleshooting steps for each specific error from the troubleshooting wiki page, each one of the errors I just wrote about above is listed in bold, I just followed the steps that were given for each from the wiki page, the results after trying to troubleshoot each error was the same error popping up along the way of the steps to connect to VATSIM, the chat error came back when I clicked on chat after I tried that step, the component VATSIMVL came when I tried to connect to VATSIM, Microsoft FS has stopped working came when I tried to shut down FSX, don't remember when the Run time error 372 came.

Jymp, I didn't give you a link to a wiki page. While reading the manual and the hundreds of pages of wiki probably wouldn’t hurt, I was trying to help you by giving you a more consolidate reference of which I mention it might only take 5 minutes to do.
I gave you the following link which has a trouble shooting section of 6 items:
http://flightsim.apollo3.com/docs/fsinn/connectiontovatsim.htm
It’s not clear to me that you looked at the reference to Text Chat Error in that section. If you missed that, you might have missed something else on that page. If you see that, idealistically you would do the step and make a reference to what you did and whether it helped.
The reference coming from me will give me a better understanding that you read and followed closely the one page. If having done that you continue to have problems (which it’s possible that you might since it appears that you’re saying you’ve done it), then I will know for sure to skip that and look for something I haven’t ever seen before.
Will you use the wording in the link I gave you in describing what you did to fix your chat error and report on the results.
Thanks in for helping me to help you.
